Shooting Star Photography bio picture

I'm glad you found me!

Welcome to my blog! Take a look around. Here you'll find recent posts of sneak peeks from sessions I have done, as well as contests and news.

Photography gives me a creative outlet and a way for me to freeze time. Time goes by even faster with a child, and photographing mine allows me to keep her small and with me forever.  God gave me the gift of photography. I share my gift of capturing and freezing time with others, and the thought of how I am able to do that for my clients, family, and friends  - makes me smile!

Caylee | {Birmingham, AL child photographer}

Caylee is a beautiful 7 year old girl who has a wonderful family. I have photographed the Drakes a few times now, but this time it was all about Caylee… with a few family portraits and shots with little sister, Savannah.

By the end of our session, Caylee really opened up and looked like she’d been modeling all her life.

Isn’t she amazing? Here’s my favorite from the day…

I have quite a few adorable shots of Savannah that I will post later… There are so many ones I’m in love with from this session!

Jackson and Sarah Cameron

I wrapped up my whirlwind weekend in Atlanta with a shoot today with Sarah Cameron and her little brother, Jackson - all the way from Charlotte, North Carolina!

These two are too fun and full of energy. We ran around the front yard and played at the park too! I miss you guys and hope to see you again soon!

This one just cracks me up, because being a big sister to a brother, I’ve had my share of moments like this! Just know that’s not a fake smile, that’s a growling, about to burst-into-laughter-because-I’m-being-tickled-by-someone-smaller-than-me, face!

Brandon and Braylen

These adorable brothers are so handsome! Little brother, Braylen, was a little tired today and wasn’t sure he wanted his picture taken, but we managed to find quite a few smiles anyway! Brandon, who’s going to be three soon, was a natural in front of the camera.

Holiday Mini Sessions in Atlanta!

I held my first mini session of the season in Atlanta last weekend. The good people at Atlantic Station gave me exclusive permission (which I shared with Jody on Sunday for her sessions!) to have access to their ENORMOUS and beautiful Christmas tree. The official lighting of the tree is November 22nd where they will have snow and everything! So go check out Atlantic station if you missed out on a mini session to see this gorgeous tree!

All of my clients for Saturday were repeat customers of those I’ve had throughout the year (a couple I have now shot 3x’s this year!) ! It was so fun to see how much they’ve grown and learned over the time!

Aren’t these guys adorable? I see some very cute holiday cards in their future. For a reminder of my options available - follow this link!

It was so much fun, even though it was cold! Thanks to my wonderful assistants who helped the day go off without a hitch! I look forward to 2 packed days of mini-session in Birmingham this weekend!

Don’t forget to submit your hoilday card orders by next Wednesday in order to have them in time for address and delivery intervals. Thanks again!

My neck of the woods

My brother and his family were in town from Oklahoma this weekend for my cousin’s wedding and I took their holiday pictures. Our new house is right next to a beautiful nature trail that leads down to the Cahaba River. When I say “right next to” I really mean it, because the entrance is 2 feet from our driveway!

So basically this beautiful area is in my backyard and I couldn’t be more excited. Not only does the inside of my house get great light, I have this lovely backdrop outside - a photographer’s dream!

It was so fun to see how much he’s grown up though! He will be 3 in February. Pretty adorable, huh?

Anyway, my nephew, Dennis the Menace Callan, was so good for these picture, until the end, when he decided that he should take a little dip in the river. I mean, it was 54 degrees out and he had a sweater on… What’s wrong with going swimming in November? I think he realized how bad of an idea that was when he hit the water!

To see him and Kate together was great too. These shots are for my mom, who’s been dying for these!

Liam and Chloe with their Parents!

I have photographed the adorable Liam and Chloe before… This time they were with Mommy and Daddy and they had a ball at the botanical gardens! This is not really a sneak peek because I just finished their entire set of proofs so this post includes some of my favorites from the session!

Oh, and Liam will be 4 at the end of the month! Happy early birthday little guy!

And since my last mommy enjoyed seeing a picture of herself, here’s another pretty mother to feature! Just beautiful!

Julia

8 year old Julia is probably the happiest girl I’ve seen in a very, very long time! She was all smiles and giggles and excited for our photoshoot.

Julia is an aspiring dancer and by the looks of her technique, I’d say she’s headed for a spot in the Atlanta Ballet!

The love in this family was very evident! The smiles and the laughs were contagious too!

Langley and Corbin

I have known the parents of these adorable children since I was in elementary school! It’s always fun to catch up with old friends, but especially fun when you get to meet their kids and see how much they are like their mommy and daddy!

3 year old Langley, 18 month old Corbin and I had fun exploring a burned out building, some train tracks, and the view of the bridge from the police station. Sounds exciting and dangerous, huh? Well, lucky for us, it was pretty tame!

I love new locations so this was exciting for me! It took me so long to sneak peek these too because I have so many favorites! Aggh! Decisions - my downfall :).

I hope you enjoy these Robyn and Lance. Your kids are wonderful!

Carson and Mary Ellis

These 2 sisters are absolutely gorgeous and were so cute in their matching dresses for our shoot! We wore Mary Ellis out and she decided to conveniently take a nap for us. Who says you can’t do newborn poses with a 3 month old? :).

The Jarmon sisters kick-offed my work in Alabama! I’m excited to start working with people in what will be my new hometown, starting at the end of October!  I can’t wait!

Matthew and Megan

I have known these two adorable children’s parents for a very long time. I was thrilled today when I got to play with them and take their pictures!  I have SO many favorites I have no idea how I’m they are gonna pick some favorites! Here are some that I think show their personalities and how beautiful these children are and how loving and wonderful this family really is!

Look at these gorgeous green eyes!

Megan has the most adorable dimples I’ve ever seen! You can’t really tell here, but you get a hint of where they are!

Megan and her beautiful Mommy!

This rocking chair has been in their family for MANY generations! This face is also, ’so Matthew”!

This could be my new favorite picture! I would have this canvas mounted and hung somewhere!

Told you I had too many favorites… You should see the rest :)!
