Shooting Star Photography bio picture

I'm glad you found me!

Welcome to my blog! Take a look around. Here you'll find recent posts of sneak peeks from sessions I have done, as well as contests and news.

Photography gives me a creative outlet and a way for me to freeze time. Time goes by even faster with a child, and photographing mine allows me to keep her small and with me forever.  God gave me the gift of photography. I share my gift of capturing and freezing time with others, and the thought of how I am able to do that for my clients, family, and friends  - makes me smile!

Jack | {Birmingham, AL toddler photographer}

Jack is one too!  I was so excited to see him because Jack was another of my newborns last year. The funny part is that I took his newborn pictures on the same exact day  - June 14th a year ago. I thought that was so cool how it worked out that way!

He’s such a happy and smiley boy and was in the best mood during our photoshoot. I had a great time playing with this family! Aren’t they all so good-looking?

Hannah Claire is ONE! |{ Birmingham, AL Toddler Photographer}

Well… she will be one on Thursday, the 18th, if we want to be precise! Hannah Claire shares the same birthday as her beautiful mommy.

What a wonderful birthday present her mother had last year! I remember her emailing me to tell me her water had broken and she was in labor. I was so excited!  Hannah Claire was one of my first newborns, and here she is now a year later and as beautiful, happy, and easy going as she was last year!

Her parents indulged me in trying out a new location and I was thrilled with so many of the shots we got. Here are a few favorites from today -

Aren’t her eyes the most amazing you’ve ever seen? I promise you I didn’t touch these in any way. In fact, this picture is SOOC (straight out of the camera), just resized and sharpened for the web!

I love this face!

Happy Birthday Hannah Claire, to you and your mother!

Heston’s 1st Birthday Party Details | {Birmingham, AL - Party Photographer}

Remember me mentioning that Heston’s Birthday party was packed with amazing details and that his mother was the next Martha Stewart?

Check these out. What a great first birthday party! I think Heston’s mother, Rebecca, should moonlight as a party planner! It probably doesn’t hurt that she’s an incredible architect, so she has an eye for detail!

The theme was jungle animals and exploration - lots of green and orange and bright colors-

LOVED this cake from Edgar’s bakery that Rebecca designed for them and they implemented. I overheard her telling the story of how she wanted the pretzels on there and that they were probably scratching their heads on that request… It turned out adorable and SO delicious! You can’t go wrong with an Edgar’s cake.  Don’t tell my personal trainer!!!

The food table was packed with yummy stuff!

I loved this outdoor dining setup!

In case someone didn’t want cake, she had an ice cream table! Notice the cute sugar cones she made-

Heston’s homemade smash cake… which he LOVED by the way! - in case you missed it.

Even the lime green punch and the tea glasses were in on the theme-

drinks

This customized birthday banner was probably my very favorite part! Rebecca took pictures of Heston throughout the year, converted them all to a sepia/b&w color, had them printed on cardstock with rounded corners. Each picture had a letter on it to spell out “Happy Birthday!” She hung each from ribbon and attached the ribbon to twine. So creative!

The birthday boy got LOTS of fun presents!

gifts-and-balloons

And last but not least - the cool favors! Homemade animal crackers (Heston’s maternal grandmother made those) and custom bookmarks thanking guests for attending the big event! In the middle here is Heston’s birthday bib which his paternal grandmother made. This family is full of creative and crafty people!  Heston’s grandmother, Jane, co-owns a monogramming company here in Birmingham called 2 Stitches. She does beautiful work. Email her at twostichesal @ aol . com (remove spaces) if you need anything monogrammed or personalized gifts!

Thanks Rebecca and Tom for such a wonderful party! I loved being a part of it!

love this one! {Birmingham, AL | toddler photographer}

I’m working on a good sneak peek of little miss Lindy, and I couldn’t help share this one first! I think it deserved its own post. As soon as I took it, I knew this one would be special, and I was right.

This whole session was so much fun, if you can’t tell  already!

Heston’s Cake Smash! |{Birmingham, AL - Toddler photographer}

To say that Heston enjoyed his cake would be an understatement! What a fun party this little guy had, and the best part was that he loved every minute of it! Expect more party details pictures later this week… Heston’s mommy is the next Martha Stewart!

Happy 1st birthday Heston!

This first picture could be my new favorite. Looks like Heston may be making another appearance on the blog header! Those are his chubby thighs above. Blue is his color, don’t you think?

Lindy is ONE! - {Birmingham, AL child photographer}

I was so excited to get to capture gorgeous little Lindy’s first birthday party! What a fun party her parents threw for her, and what an incredible family. I could just feel how much this sweet girl is loved! I can’t wait to do her real 1 year session in a couple of weeks. Here’s a quick sneak peek of what is to come. I’m off to the beach with my family and friends for a week. Whoohoo!

Jonas and Leanna turn 1 - {Birmingham, AL twin photographer}

I have adored watching Jonas and Leanna grow in the past year. I photographed them at 3 months and 6 months, and here they are turning 1 year old next week! It’s so fun to see how much they have changed and how their little personalities are developing. Jonas is standing and Leanna is close, but they both can get behind the push toy and walk all over. It won’t be long until they are running!

There are too many pictures in this sneak peek, but I can’t help it… with 2 cuties it’s too hard to narrow them down!

Oh, and can I mention how hard it is to get two mobile babies to sit still long enough side-by-side to look at the camera at the same time? They were a much more captive audience at 3 and 6 months :)

Happy Easter

The shoemaker’s kids never get the shoes. And in my case, when they do, they won’t look at the camera!

I set up Easter shots for my daughter, and out of the tons of pictures I took, here are the only two where she was remotely looking at me and the camera and smiling. Luckily my smile inducing tricks work on all kids but my own. She just ignores me when I pull out the camera!

I was going to make Easter cards for her classmates and teachers at school, but my computer crashed this week so I’m a little behind on my to-do list!  I have some other sneak peeks coming this week too…!

And lastly, the shoes! My child is obsessed with shoes, and this pair was no exception. Our friends (and personal trainer) the Drake’s, gave these to Kate (along with many, many other pairs of shoes and huge bags of clothes). Kate is all set for Easter, Spring, and Summer!  Aren’t these adorable? They have little “cotton tails” on the back of each shoe!
